Your machines infected. That has NOTHING to do with firefox, save perhaps you visiting an infected site with firefox (Chrome would have let you get infected too as would IE)

I would recommend as follows ~

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
    UPDATE and FULL SCAN
Post the log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds

    reboot

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click DO A SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE (Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)

Where exactly did you download these three MP3's from?

  • Certainly sounds like a bit of malware causing problems. Downloading stuff off the net always carries a risk, regardless of where it comes from. However, that risk goes up exponentially when you download from 'un-official sources'. Just because you think you're getting MP3's doesn't mean that's actually what you're getting. Same with screensavers, games, hell, even antivirus/antispyware programs have been spotted causing problems. Trust nothing. Scan EVERYTHING that gets downloaded.

Get good antivirus (personal choice, Avast. Reliable and free, others available). Get good antispyware (again, personal choices are Spybot S&D, and Lavasoft Adaware. Reliable and free). A firewall is personal choice, but again I use Zonealarm because it's reliable and free (notice a trend here). And keep everything up to date. Firefox 2 was updated ages ago (now on version 3.5.3), and for good reason as flaws had been identified and exploited. If a car manufacturer finds flaws in their vehicles, they recall the ones out there for upgrades, and fix the problem with any in the showroom. Software companies do the same. You wouldn't drive a car with a known problem, so why risk it with the computer?
