Thanks, I do have a lot of quorn in the freezer, I just can't make it taste as nice as meat, even covering it with herbs and spices! There must be a way.

Yes, have a slow cooker. They are a good invention indeed!

Do you like Marmite? I find it does wonders for Quorn.

In all honesty, you're never going to get Quorn to taste just like meat. Have you tried soya products? I do a Shepherd Spy (as Mr LW calls it) and we find it tastes better made using frozen soya mince than with Quorn mince.

I do like Marmite, thanks for the tip!

Yeah, it's pretty tasteless stuff. I haven't tried soya before, will have to give it go!

  • I've got a low fat curry sauce.... no cream or youghurt at all. Fry onion, garlic and ginger. If you like a bit of a kick add a fresh chilli. Add some turmeric, curry powder and chilli powder. Add in some frozen mixed veg and 1 or 2 tins of chopped tomatoes. Simmer, then blitz til smooth. Can add meat of fish or fresh veg and can be stored in a fridge for up to 2 weeks or a freezer for up to 3 months. Thank you to my son's school cook for this receipe. Last term she held family cooking classes, which got kids and families cooking together and this was 1 of the receipes. She also has to make all the schools meals and another schools from local produce (a local special project) and for £0.72 per person!!
