Making a dog eat slower - how???

If you want a solution then you have to really work hard at getting up say 10 mins earlier then normal to scatter the food around the room or house.
You are right, but at 6.30 in the morning, every extra second in bed is very precious indeed. :rotfl:
On a more serious note, mutt is into chewing things in a big way. If I start scattering food around downstairs, do you think it is likely to leave a smell on the furniture and carpets, as I'd hate her to start on those thinking there was food there somewhere and having a nibble because she could still smell something? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Well my pup would chew if he could but doesn't eat TV table when his food is on it
If your worried then just feed him a handful at a time. When he has finished his first handful in his bowl then put more down for him, at least he wouldn't be scoffing the lot in one go. 0 -
Is there any reason you can't dogproof the garden and scatter feed out there? Or train your dog out of some of these 'naughty ' habits he has?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

If he eats that quickly, you could feed him before you sit down to a meal, and he'd be finished by the time you'd finished. If my Springer is scatter fed, it's like watching Pac Man.......Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Ok, just tried the kong. *note to self - pick the water bowl up first in future *
It slowed her down as she couldn't work out for ages where the food was coming from. And I had to fill it up a few times, so it was probably similar to putting it in her bowl a handful at a time in terms of how long it took. But it gave me a giggle and so far the food has stayed put, which is a bonus.
However silly sod remains unconvinced that she's actually been fed and is sitting gazing forlornly at her bowl as I type. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Too expensive to dog proof the garden - serious penny pinching going on at the moment.
And compared to her bad habits when I first got her, mutt is now a paragon of virtue.
The ones that are left, I can live with. Most of the time.
It's odd actually because she's start doing things she's not done for ages. She's run off with my shoes a couple of times lately, which she hasn't done in years. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Hi
I use the Brakefast bowl and so do several of my friends. We would all thoroughly recommend them to anyone with the same feeding issues. Slightly expensive but well worth every penny. My border collie used to bolt her food down and every now and again would throw it back up or I would have to slap her back to free the food off in her throat. :-(
The first time I used the bowl she was slightly taken aback but after a couple of meals eats her dinner with no problems at all. Touch wood we have not had one incident of her being sick since.
I purchased the medium size (blue) bowl for my dog. Border Collie.
I hope the above helps somebody into deciding to try.0 -
I sell the Brake Fast dog bowls (really don't mean you should buy off me) and they're the only feeding bowl I sell, those and Road Refreshers non spills. They are both really effective products.
The Brake Fast works because they're not non slip so move on the floor, plus they have the three plastic obstructions which are part of the bowl and can't be chewed off and swallowed, forcing the dog (or cat) to be delicate in order to get their food. If they like to eat fast, and maybe throw it up then re-eat it, this is the bowl for you. The medium size bowl fits in the most raised feeding platforms too.
Customers really rate them and it's one of my five core bestselling products online where I sell through referrals and customer feedback/reviews are very positive. No one has come back yet to say they don't work for them.
Seriously, I know the rules of the forum, and I'm not the manufacturer either, buy them from anywhere but just make sure they're Brake-Fast and not imitation.
Dishwasher proof too! Enjoy!Kate0 -
Yep totally agree...the Brake Fast bowl for fast eating dogs....worked for our labradors its brilliant. I found them cheaper on ebay from a reputable seller and you can see the feedback there too
