Is there a difference between the two,will i receive different channels and which is the best to have.Which is the best maker of the boxes to buy eg pace,thompson,thanks

Sky Freesat has more channels. Whether the extra channels are worth watching is another matter though.
If you go the Freesat route, you can buy an HD box and the HD channels are free. The recommended make for Freesat is the Humax boxes, but others are available. You can view them on the Freesat site.Dave. :wave:0 -
I'm not sure if this is any use to you, but depending on which Freesat box you buy, you can record TV. For Sky to do the same you need to pay either £10 a month, or subscribe.
If all you want are the basic channels and you're not worried about HD or being able to record, then grab a cheap bush/grundig box - they cost about 30 quid.0
