Can i ask how you know that within a month will have a payment part for existing customers? This is the first i have heard about it and i cannot even get that confirmed by Vanquis themselves.

    Maybe an undercover Vanquis employee!
  • Hi,

Ive been with vanquis bank for a year now, and through out the year I have only received 5 or 6 statements, and that was only cause I called up to ask where my statements were. So, I have ended up falling into debt due to not knowing where my balance is sitting. I can't check it online as they "do not currently provide that service". So i get phone calls to my house, and when my parents answer they have been saying, "I am your daughters friend" but they wont give a name. Oh and today My dad answered the phone and they said " can you get your daughter to call us" so my dad asked who it was and they said " she knows who it is" I have all my calls like this recorded. So I called them today to try see whats going on and I get some nasty piece of work on the end of the phone speaking to me like I am some criminal. I was only 18 when I got the card because I wanted to get a good credit history ( all so i thought.) I was unemployed when i got the card, and they new this, im on JSA so apparently that was fine. so they gave me a card with a 250£ limit. Little did i know what i was getting myself into. I told them i didnt want the insurance on the card so they would "freeze the account if i lost my job" because i had no job to loose. but yeah back to the guy on the phone. i confronted him about the people calling my house saying that they are my friends and that i know who they are and not leaving the name of the company. so he got all squirmy and kept throwing every excuse in the book at me, saying that they are allowed to do that if im at work so that colleagues wouldnt know it was a credit card company, but like i said a million times to them I DO NOT WORK!!!!!!! and as far as i know they are not allowed to missrepresent who they are. even when i called the number they left it said nothing about vanquis, it directly said " if you would like to make a a debit or credit card payment press 1 or for any enquiries press 2". The guy on the phone gave me all this mumbo jumbo about how they are allowed to call when ever they want so i said to him " what about my statements, i only have about 5 or6 from the past year" and he gave me the whole your address might be wrong blah blah blah which i have heard to many times before. so i said to him " thats funny that my address might be wrong cause i only get my bill when i complain about not getting it, besides i got my bill this month because i complained last month about not receiving it in august or september, so why have i only received octobers?" he couldnt answer, he went straight on about a payment agreement that i had that will no longer be in agreement and i said thats fine i dont care, then i requested to speak to the manager and he got all nasty about it, "why do you want to talk to him" so i said " well i feel like you are being rude and not explaining stuff properly" but he still wouldnt let me speak to a manager, nor would he give me his name. my mum says i must write all this to the financial ombudsmen, i will do that, but i dont know if im in the wrong or not.?
  • if youve received some statements you will know roughly when your payments are due and its your responsibility to be making your payments, they have a number you can also phone to find out when your payments are due??? vanquis do not deliver your statements to your house either that would be the royal mail;....contacted them? you have to complain to vanquis complaints department before you go to the ombudsman :)

My experience of Vanquis' customer service is equally diabolical.

They are incompetent, unfamilliar with the rules that they are legally bound to follow, and in it to prey on those with bad credit to make a quick buck.

Yes I say this myself even though I have a vanquis card - I have a direct debit to pay the full amount and if I need to call them I used the 0800 number.

I can't say I've had any statement issues but I know what they can be like and as soon as they account has been open a year and I've been able to get a Capital One Classic, vanquis can say bye bye to my custom.

As ever, it's my reccomendation that one ONLY EVER banks with Vanquis if they can't get a credit card elsewhere and they can set up a DD to pay the full amount. If that's not the case, it ain't worth it!!!

I do hope they offer some kind of online access soon - they have invested a lot in new cards and website lately so it must be in the pipeline.

Until then we can all carry on spending their money by calling them on 0800 781 6314 taking our sweet time running up their phone bill ;)
