Vegetarian quick questions thread

Hi All

I've used quorn mince and frozen soya mince before but want to use dried soya mince to make a bolognese for the first time today. The only instructions on the pack are to boil for at least 40 minutes.

I'm going to boil it in stock, maybe with some marmite or bovril (I'm not actually vegetarian).

What I'm unsure about is, do I boil it in an excess of liquid, and then drain it - like you might cook rice or pasta? Or should I be aiming to get the amount of liquid correct so that it all soaks into the soya? And do I then just use like ordinary mince? Is it likely to fall apart if I fry it off with the onion etc, after all that boiling? Should I just add it with the tomatoes etc instead?

Any help greatly appreciated - I need to cook it today as I'm off work and, although it is extremely cheap (the reason I'm trying it!), I'd rather not waste it by turning it into mush or anything :rotfl:
