If you put as much effort into your offline life, you must have a very successful business.
I like the fight between you and Mewbie, to see who can be the quickest and funniest.
It's sweet, you're arm wrestling on top of the table and holding hands under it so no one can see.

I don't own my own business, but I guess I have a 'good job'. I think a lot of the skills used a forum such as this are quite transferable: communications, consideration of different points of view, understanding contrasting arguments and generally learning to get on / not get on with people. I manage about 70 people directly and indirectly, so I think all of the skills above are quite important. I also don't think typing a forum during the evening is any more effort than sitting watching Eastenders, for example. That's also the reason I very rarely post 9-5 on weekdays, unless I'm off or working from home (which is pretty rare at the moment).
In terms of 'putting in effort', typing in 200 words to a post isn't really that much effort.Lotus-eater wrote: »I like the fight between you and Mewbie, to see who can be the quickest and funniest.
I don't think there's really a fight of any type. I think we're poth posters who enjoy making our points through humour, which is just one method of getting a point accross. It's a facless internet forum at the end of the day, who really cares? Thousands of people have a blog, which is fine of course. I prefer typing away on here with people I know (using that term loosely of course) and get imediate reaction and interaction with what you post.
I terms of my original post to Macaque, I'd prefer to write something funny and different to make a point, because I think he has an interesting point of view and posts interesting stuff, despite the fact I don't agree with a lot of it. I feel I've learned quite a lot from people like him posting stuff on here, so a long post in that style is, I guess, my way of saying that I disagree with him but not in a harsh way.
Not quite sure why I'm defending myself in this way, but there we go...0 -

UK19 September 2009Mr Simian MacaquePresident of the 70% ClubDear Mr MonkeyRe: Barclays joining the 70% clubOn 19 September I logged on to the site Moneysavingexpert.com and found a story entitled 'Barclays joining the 70% club', written by your good self. As a long-term, respectful critic of your esteemed organisation I excitedly clicked on to the hyperlink you provided and prepared myself to be amazed by a story about one of our leading financial organisations predicting house price falls of 70%.Imagine my dissapointment to find a story merely detailing mortgage interest rates, with one line about how Barclays were offering a mortgage product. There was nothing about price drops.I cannot help thinking that my beloved 70% club is starting to use shock headlines to gain members. This would have never been done a year or two back and I feel sad that an oragnisation I've followed, respected and had an interest in since being a lad is resorting to these tactics.I would be grateful if you and your board could consider the points raised above and reconsider your posting policy in future. I have come to expect a good, steady flow of actual, mentalist 70% drop prediction articles from your prestigious organisation. A list of mortgage rates, frankly, is just not cricket.Yours sincerely
Mr CleaverPresident of the 'tiny rise over the next 12 months, followed by a bit of stagnation over the next few years before everything starts going mental again I imagine' club.
1. Barclays are asking for ..... 40% deposits! Given the falls to date, that puts them well inside the 70% club eligibility zone.
2. You didn't include the initials after my name
3. The 70% club does not need to lobby for members. We have even had to introduce eligibility criteria (no fat chicks) to keep the waiting list to manageable lengths. Sadly no MSE ladies have yet met the eligibility criteria.
4. You should have declared your personal interest in this matter before making a complaint. As you know, your application form for the 70% club was returned to you in tiny shreds.
Note to the 70% club members
My apologies for the delay in getting your club ash trays to you. We hope to send them out within the next 7 days.0 -

I'm appalled. Mr 'goody two shoes Cleaver' got 15 thanks for his wishy washy letter whereas I only got zilch for my brilliant and insightful original post.
So lets have it out now. If you think that Cleaver is nicer, more civilised and more intelligent than Macaque, please cast your vote by ticking the 'thanks' tab on this post.0 -

Poor effort, take a leaf out of Cleaver's book

What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.

You can't beat the voting system, face it, Cleaver is funnier than you. I'm sure you're better at other things, maybe you can think of some?I'm appalled. Mr 'goody two shoes Cleaver' got 15 thanks for his wishy washy letter whereas I only got zilch for my brilliant and insightful original post.
