There is always an ethical dimension to breeding animals, it is unavoidable. Hopefully, if these dogs are so in demand, they will all have had homes lined up for a while now?

I agree FC, yes we have 9 and we are keeping 1 and the women who owns the dog is wanting 1 aswell. So we have 7 to go, 3 already gone and they have only been on the KC site for a week. ;) Also Acredited breeders and KC reg breeders can only breed 1 litter per year, Irish Wolfhounds come into season 2 times a year and if we bred of her 2 times in 1 year the kennel club refuse to register them which limits puppy farmers etc which i strongly agree with the kc doing this.

i mean i dont want a lecture on breeding dogs when theres others in kennels ect. we breed these dogs because of the famous nutstown blood lines our !!!!! has, its rare these days and its not often you see a nutstown dog left!

you may not want a lecture on breeding dogs etc but how about one on breeding kittens????
think this is a bit much coming from the person who recently posted asking for advice about her female cat who was pregnant for the 5th time, every excuse in the book given as to why this kept happening. yes you may have sold the kittens and donated the money to charity but how many people who bought your kittens might have taken a rescue kitten in????
    Lead us not into temptation...

just tell us where it is and we'll find it....
  • I hope you have managed to rehome that greyhound you couldn't keep too. I did ask on that thread if you had contacted the original rescue who rehomed him...?

That post was months ago if you look, someone else sifted through and bumped it back to the top.. she has been spayed!! Shes a feral farm cat BTW as i stressed.. shes not always in the house to be caught anyway we caught her once and took her to the vets and she was quite far along to the point of were you could see little kittens inside her on the scan, i did not want to abort them which is my opinion.. she had her kittens outside and kept taking them back out.. they have all been rehomed mainly to friends and family so i know were they are anyway? As for the 'rescue kitten in' we spoke to a few people who couldnt find rescue kittens to rehome, we had 9 kittens 2 out of the 9 went to some people we didnt know from Berkshire who tried rehoming kittens but they tried all local centres to find 1 that had 2 kittens who had already been rehomed, then they came to us. They said they would of considered taking in a rescue cat but they had 2 small children and you dont always know the background a cat has had.. Also as i said before hand we charge £50 anyway, this way i know if somebody comes who i dont know i know they are going to a good home, if your willing to pay £50 for a kitten your going to make a effort on caring for it, we didnt not put in the advert that we donate the money to Cancer so they just thought they were paying £50 to us until we explained. The post was to ask if anybody new of any i could catch her and keep her inside, it proved inpossible anyway i tried all ways, shes just not a people cat. We rescued her already in kitten and it was just a cycle of kittens that we found VERY difficult to stop. Like i say she has been spayed, there will be no more kittens unless another stray gives birth in my stables which often happens and i have no control over. And also i do not BREED kittens thankyou very much, do you see me getting a male and putting it to my female cat?! No i dont think so.. I could understand if i did this i would hold my hands up and say yes i was in the wrong! I see so many cats dumped outside my front cat, we have 5 cats 4 of them were rescued because of been dumped. Were i live its extremly diffuclt with stray cats and dogs because people think if they dump them outside front gates its better than taking them to rescue centres!!

I dont know how true it is that people are bound to look after a cat because they have paid £50 for... it seems that some very expensive pedigree dogs end up dumped and in rescue...
Record numbers of pedigree dogs, many worth thousands of pounds, are being abandoned by their owners.

Britain's largest canine welfare charity, the Dogs Trust, has calculated that 42 per cent of the dogs that passed through its rescue centres in the past year were pure breeds.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1574688/Pedigree-dogs-are-dumped-in-record-numbers.html
In the first month of 2009, The Mayhew’s Dog Adoption Officer received 162 calls about dogs that owners no longer want -126 of these being pure breeds of dogs – dispelling the myth that people don’t abandon, or give up, pure breed dogs.
The calls from the London area consists of a list of 36 different breeds of dogs, including Pugs, Schnauzer, Border Collies, Labradors, Spaniels, Pointers, Greyhounds and Great Danes.

ETA - although I think it is wiser than offering them 'free to a good home' - but I think some people see animals as being quite disposable, sadly, whatever they have paid.
