Praise for Argos

Options
Went to Argos last week to buy a guitar for my son. Got it home only to discover that it was too big for him. In his excitement to open it he tore the box open so I knew that Argos didn't technically have to replace it.
Anyway I thought I would take it back to Argos and explain the situation and ask for a credit note or voucher to order the smaller one they had which was only available on their website.
The lady on customer services was wonderful and said she'd had the same trouble trying to find the right size for her son and did a full refund on my credit card.

I'd try again if I were you Alison. You shouldn't have to mess about with it to get it to work, that's unacceptable. It's not fit for purpose if it doesn't do what it's supposed to do without messing about with it.

I'd go back to Argos and try again, insist on speaking to the manager and generally kick up a fuss until they cave in.

tell them it has an intermittent fault - but a lot depends on when you bought it if you are due a refund, replacement or repair. have a look on argos website should explain on there. then go back and if you feel you are entitled to refund ask to see manager - oh and DONT tell them if you fiddle with it it works!

  • Sorry I cant share your happiness either - they won't even give me a VAT receipt for an order I made because I had it delivered to somehwere that wasnt my address.

Isn't the VAT number on the back of the receipt?

I didnt get a receipt - they posted it to the address where I had the goods delivered to - they flatly refuse to post me a copy, even though I paid for the items and have explained to them (several times now) that I have no way of accessing the property or getting the receipt they have posted out.
  • Allot of people seem to have issues with Argos but I've always found them to be fair. Earlier this year when they had a sale on my son pre ordered a game which would have been approx £15 sale price but the price had gone up at midnight the day we went to collect to roughly £30/£35. Anyway I asked if they they would sell at the reduced price as a goodwill gesture, so after checking with the manager they agreed to it, as a one off.

So 10/10 there for Argos. The t&c state that the price you pay is the price on the day.
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted:)
    I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p
