    Michelin definitely last longer, but that's because they use a harder rubber compound, which must mean less grip on the road. I can't say I notice though, my back ones have lastd 100,000 miles. (front wheel drive)

    As I said above - Michelin spend more as a %age on research and design - by having the latest rubber compounds and tread design you can get round many of the soft rubber= good grip but poor wear versus harder rubber = long lasting less grip results.

    not like in the old days, eh? People still tell me that the XZX was the best tyre they ever had on their car even though that was decades ago!!:D

    fwiw my DH and I do less than 5K a year in our cars but both still have Michelins on them.I know how strict the quality systems that are in place are, and I wouldn't trust anything else.;)

    i would agree, the michelins do grip well in the wet or dry right to the end of thier life. and they seem to have a stiffer sidewall which means less roll in corners.
