Goodyear or Michelin?

Hi all,
Any thoughts about which tyre to go for? I drive a renault laguna doing about 1000 miles a month, mostly motor way.
Have looked on Kwikfit and have looked on Blackcircles so far. Problem with Blackcircles is I only noticed the problem today and they NEED doing this weekend (spare me the criticism about not checking my tyres please, I do but hadn't realised 1 of them had got this bad.) I have a choice of about 7 on Kwikfit and have narrowed it down to Goodyear EfficientGrip
Tyre Size 195/65V15 or Michelin Energy Saver Tyre Size 195/65V15

What preferences between these two would people have? price difference of about 70p so that has little bearing...

Thanks in advance
Morty

  • personally i would always go for the michelin if i was buying a high priced tyre. the life from them can be incedible and the grip doesnt seem to get any worse as they get older, they feel the same the day they are fitted and the day they are changed.

  • Michelin for me.
  • Michelin are better IMO. I would pay a premium for them over Goodyear so at 70p it would be a no brainer for me

    Michelin +1
  • Out of them two I'd choose the Mich's. They seem to last longer and wear evenly...

You do a decent mileage - I'd go for the Michelins.

Try to check the four digit date code if you can see the tyre before fitting. It should be xx09.

You won't find an old Michelin, probably not Goodyear for that matter, it costs too much to store them, so they will all be recently made.

Michelin make car tyres here in the UK,( I know, cos I work there - support UK manufacturing!! :p) and if you get energysavers then one tyre will pay for itself in the saving on petrol.

I saw an ad where Michelin were offering a £40 fuel voucher when you bought 4 tyres. Can't remember where, maybe google it?

p.s. because I work there, I know the %age of money they spend on research (it is higher than any other tyre company) so if it were me I'd spend the money and buy Michelins, since the palm sized area where the tyre meets the road is the only thing keeping you on the road.;)

Get them for the best price you can, of course! This is MSE after all.

its ATS thats offering this, they are also offering 25% off 4 tyres so that means buy 4 get one free, plus the £40 voucher could make it an attractive deal.

if i did the mileage in my own car to warrant michelins i would put them on it.
