I would drive round the area anyway, to see what you are buying into. Don't think you need PP unless the property is listed.

We know the area quite well anyway - our now grown up daughters went to a nursery close by, and we only live over the other side of the hill.

But I was at the dentist today (will be much closer to my dentist - is that a plus or a minus? ;) Have a very nice lady dentist with gentle hands, so think that might actually be a plus for me) so we did a drive past and went down a close a bit further away, and there are loads of dishes, but most not very visible from the front road (if you drive down the closes you can see them).

Property is from 1960, so would be amazed if it's listed - don't think it has any Beatle connotations! :D

We also drove along the roughly parallel road, and some of the Victorian piles had dishes on the chimney stacks. I don't know if they're listed buildings, but I figure if they can get away with it, we ought to be able to.

Will have to read the Liverpool Planning stuff as well, just not had time yet due to all the other stuff that keeps happening!

Thanks to you and everyone for responses.

listing and conservation area are two different things with different rules and regulations.

I would not worry too much you can hide a sat dish so long as you get an installer with some imagination. Get a local one to fit it.

i live in a conservation area and to be blunt it means nothing with our planners. Sat dishes are far more acceptible as they were 15 years again so just go for it. At worst they will ask to to move it which will cost £100 max, far cheaper than a planning app. but it is highly unlikey you`ll get a complaint.
