A mail order packet has been sent addressed to my name, but my next door neighbour's address. She is on holiday, so I can't get the red card that will have been left. Will the sorting office let me collect it?

Yes just say you forgot it or lost it, but take Photo ID with you. hope they aren't on strike. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Hi,
In our sorting office they say that if you don't have the red card then your only option is to arrange a re-delivery.
I'd still try what the other poster suggests though - always worth a try!Debt at Highest: £11,630.10 (May 2006) Debt now: £0.00 !!!!Married to the man of my dreams :A - Sat 2nd June 20070 -
I suspect that no red card plus wrong address adds up to a wasted journey - just don't want the packet to be returned to sender.0

Don't tell them it's a wrong address, just show your I'd and say the address that's on it.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

I'm just being a nosey mare, but if she's on holiday how do you know there's been an attempted delivery to her house/ red card?
Also to add my two penneth, I've been to the sorting office before without the red card, and they were unable to help me, didn't get the parcel I'm afraid.0 -
I have done it before and also been given ones that the red card was on the way before I got there but had not arrived at my house yet.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

I was just assuming she had a red card as the packet was posted on 5th, but I have just struck lucky and seen the neighbour on the other side, who holds her keys, going in, so I now have the red card and will go to the sorting office in the morning.0 -

If i recall correctly i think you just need the red card and proof of IDENTITY not proof of address, might be worth showing a credit card or passport -things without your address on it just incase a postie decides to be 'diligent'.....0 -
You can order redelivery online....so at least you can get a red card..0

My local sorting office is far from picky. I regularly get phone calls from my OH asking me to collect a parcel on the way home. Even if it's addressed to him they give me it without a red card.
Not that I'm complining as otherwise I'd have to either wait until the next day or drive all the way home just to go back again.0
