mobiles.co.uk how long to debit?

Hey,

I ordered a phone from mobiles.co.uk on wednesday and it arrived today.

How long will it take them to put the 3 direct debits on my account? Two of which I need to remove within a month (the insurance and gift helpline).

Many thanks

If you cancel the insurance and gift (think you mean gadget) line - there will be no direct debits. The contract rental debit will start when your network provider bills you first tiem.

You do have to cancel the insurance and gadget line yourself.

    Thanks for the reply.

Does there not need to be a direct debit me in order for me to cancel it? Sorry I'm not very up with internet banking. I read that you can cancel the insurance and gadget (thanks :)) line by simply cancelling the direct debit. I would prefer to cancel that way as I hate phoning companies, but will of course phone if I have to.
  • You can cancel the gadgetline online. I got a letter yesterday (phone received Wednesday) with details of the direct debit. On there is says you can cancel online, so I did.

I need to ring and cancel the insurance. I have noticed that direct debits have already appeared on my online banking for orange and the insurance, but no dates or costs yet.

You should have paperwork already telling you how to -

The insurance you cancel by phoning up the insurance company (from your landline, usually 08 number) - they will try to tell you to keep the insurance as your phone might be stolen by aliens etc. Just tell them no thanks.

The gadget line - they are meant to send you a reference after you connect to the network. You use the reference to cancel the service via this page https://secure.tmti.net/vip/

You have 30 days to cancel both - without being charged.

You can delete any direct debits by going to your online bank account or asking your bank on phone or branch.

Simply deleting the direct debit will not cancel the contract. Think about it . The first they would then know about it would be after they tried to take the debit and it was refused. By then, you would be "in debt" to them.

In any event, they have how you cancel in the letter with your phone. Follow that to the letter.
