I do not want to go down the watches/cufflinks line as to be honest they are pretty naff as he doesnt wear shirts to use cufflinks and watches he gets every xmas and birthday from family members.

I did see a message in a bottle on buyagift but am stumped as to what to put on the message which will have a long lasting meaning and extends beyond i love you now and forever.
    1. Who on earth gets two watches as presents every year?

    2. How is a message in a bottle any less naff?

At least a watch serves a purpose and will be a daily and constant reminder. I'm not sure you've thought this one through.

Anyway, I hope they like it.

I don't think Stef meant that cufflinks and watches are naff, but that they would be a naff present for her OH as he doesnt wear shirts that need cufflinks and a watch is nothing special as he's had them in the past for bdays and Christmas.

That's how I read it anyway.

The point is that it's an opportunity to buy something that they can keep and use forever. Message in a bottle wouldn't do it for me I'm afraid.
  • My OH is watch mad, id love to get him a Rolex but it aint never gona happen lol!!

Im hoping to be able to stretch to a nice Gucci or some other not so expensive brand of watch.

Shellsuit thanks for that, i have read many responses on here that Quote has left on peoples threads and all are of a negative aspect, as i am fairly new to forums i believe the terminology for such is a 'troll'.

I believe not all gifts should be given for there usability, often something with sentiment means more.

Oh and as OH is from a large family it is quite feasable to duplicate presents especially when each set of relatives want to buy gifts as a suprise.

  • Reneb - i think the exchanging of gifts is usually done prior to the ceremony, If you watch some films you will see this is when the bride to be usually opens up a jewlry box to find a stunning necklace etc.

I will be entrusting Best man to make sure OH has his while he is getting ready, as the lyrics on the message will mean a lot to hiim.

  • I'll be giving mine to the best man to pass on to him while getting ready too, although I don't expect to get one from him. I just don't think it will occur to him that it might be traditional or that I might like one. What I'd really like is some perfume, so that I have some special perfume for my wedding day. Might have to drop some hints.
