  • I had put this out of my mind a bit and got girlie excited again when I saw the thread! I think the B&B looks good, just down from my office and a nice street. Buses like others have said are good and get off at Waverly rather than Haymarket, its the next stop along.

I would be happy to meet anyone during afternoon for wander round the market/shops and to partake in some hot toddy or 3 ;) Tea time might be good to have food somewhere but we need to watch for places being booked out for xmas nights out...

The Standing order (Wetherspoon's) is family friendly, meals are reasonable (including kid's menu) & they do cocktails.Been itching to try a purple rain!

    details, details!!

and what is a purple rain? (I mean, presumably its a cocktail but more specifically?)

  • What seems to happen at these meets is we elect a place... usually a weatherspoons, set up a hooooge table as a base.... someone could ring ahead and try and pre book something. or we take our chances?

people come and go as they please, there's always someone staying at base who is really only there for the beer! so they meet any newbies arriving throughout the course of the day....

always a good idea to have a couple of phone numbers too, to avoid that lonely as a cloud feeling....

i will happily post my telephone number on the thread in the days leading up to it... but as i'm not an edinburgh-er i really don't know the why's and wherefores yet......

any advance on the Standing Order Weatherspoons as a base????

looks good! and has wifi, so someone brings a lappy and we can update the poor peeps who don't make it along....

having been at home, it's nice to know what's going on at meets too

    1/2 shot grenadine

    1/2 shot peach schnapps (archers)

    1/2 shot white rum

    3 count lemonade

3 count sweet & sour mix

    1/2 shot Blue Curacao

Fill a collins glass 3/4 full with ice. Add grenadine and peach schapps and white rum into glass. Then fill with sweet and sour and lemonade. Drizzle around the edge of the glass with Blue curacao.
