Faulty c905 problem on o2

My SE C905 has suddenly broken today..the earpiece is not working meaning I cannot hear calls. The phone is 8 months old having taken a contract out in January (been a customer on same number for 7 plus years)
I rang customer services and they were brilliant..said they would send a replacement tomorrow and I should get it by Sat. Good times!!
BUT
I then got an email a few hours later stating the C905 is out of stock so they cant send a replacement. (from looking on the o2 site they no longer stock it at all). They say I can send the phone to them and they will repair it but this is obviously going to take some time.
Can i demand another phone? I have no other handsets spare so cannot struggle through using an old handset and need a lot of the features my C905 has (decent camera and intenet etc)
I have asked for an equivalent phone to be sent with similar spec but imagine they ll say no.

Is there anything I can do? Could i threaten to cancel my contract as the phone is now not fit for purpose( Im 9 months into 18 month contract)

Apparently its a common fault with that model. The phone has been discontinued I think (or at least thats what I have read). So it being out of stock is probably not a big surprise.

You just have to let them repair it - ask for a replacement for the time its being repaired or compensation.
  • ok thanks..ill try and demand a replacement handset whilst it gets fixed!!
  • They will not send a replacement handset! Can I request a partial refund of my rental whilst they have my handset? Surely o2 are not providing me with what I am paying for and as such are in breach of contract?
  • My phone has been back for this fault 3 times. If you look at the phone with the battrey cover off you should see a cabel has come lose near the charging point. the phone will still work in loud speaker mode.
  • it was working on loud speaker initially but now that wont work either!!

I don't think there is much chance of getting a replacement if they refuse - going up against brick wall.

If you have old phones lying around, use the sim with that whilst the c905 gets repaired. And if you have no old phones, well a cheap pay and go. Phone o2 and get through to complaints - might get some compensation (tenner probably).
