American Airlines is most definetly not my airline of choice. A little irrelevent here, but avoid at all costs. Everyone of my expereinces with them has been atrocious. I cant understand why people choose this "mickey mouse" airline over similar priced competitiors...loco :-)

Sorry...just thought i would rant my anger at AA.

Soted now, I decided on Virgin again (non stop from london) and after joining their frequent flyers and using 6000 miles, I paid £870 for three of us

    Hi pbright,

my multiple experiences of flying with AA have been a picture of efficiency, professionalism and everything working 100% as advertised - which is why I choose to fly with them (Mickey Mouse airline - worlds largest airline  ). Don't fly with them if you are expecting young, happy, cheerful stewardesses though - I think that they recruit from Harridans R Us.

I know that you've said that it is irrelevant here, but after giving your "avoid at all costs" advice, would you mind fleshing out the details a bit (if you are the chairman of BA, I'm sorry for putting you on the spot !).

From my experiences, I always recommend AA, but if I'm missing a trick, let me know.

    Cheers

Sounds like a good fare to me !!

p.s. I priced Virgin for a Florida trip in November this year and they were asking for about double the fare that AA wanted.

Look at why they are the worlds largest airline MTC, hopefully provide some justifiction of my view!! I personally have had bad experiences with them. Customer service was bad, the food was awful and for an American airline they do do not handly delays effectively.

Virgin is a great choice to fly to Vegas.

Great price! Virgin wanted £1200 for 2 of us and we would still have had to get from Aberdeen to London. Ended up booking the Aberdeen-Amsterdam-Memphis-Vegas route (via Detroit on home leg) Saved £400 between the 2 of us so more money to enjoy in Vegas! Go on Tuesday, leave the house at 6.30am and arrive in Vegas at 5am Local time, groan!

    hi pbright

I'm awfully confused by your first sentence.( sorry to be a pain, but what do you mean ?).

I'm not having a pop at you - for me they have always been very good. You were so vehement in your "avoid at all costs" comment that I thought you could share it with all of us so that we'd know why to avoid them.

Its ok MTC. I just meant that they are not largest based on there success in areas od customer service and satisfaction...far from it. AA have a very successfull alliance and management, i am also right in saying that they have taken over several other airlines aiding their growth. Large cash reserves through floating their stocks has brought in the revenues for AA to buy out and take over a number of airlines. I am biased though to be fair. I have had bad experiences with AA but many family members like them, however we are all conclude that BA are the better airline for example.

Thanks for that pbright - its always nice to know where people come from.

My pet hate in airlines is BA. I once had a choice of BA or Kenyan Airlines to fly to Nairobi - being a patriotc Brit, I chose BA - big mistake. For over 10 hours I flew to Kenya with a tv screen a hands spans distance from my face, I felt like I had to be folded into my seat to get me in, it was that tight.
T'other people who went with Kenyan Airlines had a MUCH< MUCH more comfortable flight.

so for me, the extra legroom on AA makes a HUGE difference (although they are not as generous on the legroom front as they were).

Just a quick Las Vegas flight update.

flying with AA from Manchester in November will cost you £396, whilst flying with AA from London will cost you over £482.

So flying from Manchester would save a family of 4 over £340.

I'm not saying that AA are the cheapest, just pointing out the difference in price of travelling from Manchester
