Hi there, my mother recently (on the 6th Sept) renewed our broadband package without me knowing, but i'm going to move in with a mate of mine who already has broadband setup. After ringing to cancel it, we have been told there would be a £140 cancellation charge) i was hoping there would be a 14/28 day leeway as with most contracts (such as loans etc) to back out of it. If there is, would anyone know of the legal jargon i could quote to the people on the other end of the phone, who i realise is just doing his job.
Any help would be really appreciated, thanks.

Broadband is a service, and as the service has been provided, you do not have a cooling off period.0

Yeah unfortuantely if your contract has been renewed with BT you will have to pay the £140 or pay it through until the end of the contact. I think you get a cooling off period when you first apply but as its just a renewal from the previous contact they don't give it.0

if the account is in your name then they should not have let your mother do the renewEx forum ambassador
