OK I have been reading this forum for a couple of weeks now and despite all the problems I have read about, I have decided to go ahead and try a 12-month cashback deal.

So this is what I have gone for:

LG Cookie
Orange Dolphin 30
200 mins any network, anytime
500 Texts
£30 a month
8 months free via cash back
£40 cashback via Quidco

So far I have received 2 emails, one confirming my order and one stating that my order has been accepted by Orange and that my order has been passed to their Quality Team for further checks.

I have printed the T's & C's - I notice that the duration of the cash back claim has been increased to 60 days

Reading the T's & C's, I need to send in my bills after 6, 8, 10 & 12 months, so that should be March 2010, May, July & September. I plan to use the email facility on the mobiles.co.uk site.

So I have given mobiles the benefit of the doubt and hoping that they live up to Ben's (Mobiles.co.uk's rep) claims.

I should get the new mobile delivered tomorrow and I will update this thread with news.

So I make that £80 for 12 months. Still not beating my deal (same phone, different dealer) :rotfl:

 I thought I had the best deal out there

So where did you get your deal from OneADay?

The other part is that I am going to sell my current Nokia 8800. Once of the internet mobile buying companies will give me £40 for it, but as I have all the accessories and the original packaging, I thought I would try my luck on eBay and see what I can get for it.
  • I was also going to do this, so I'll join in if that's ok. (I've just finished typing and it's quite long as I seem to have given your our life story! :rotfl:)

We (my husband and I) have just managed to cancel our 3 contracts, 9 months into our 18 month contracts because of the signal at our house and my husband's work suddenly dropping and 3 admitting that they cannot fix it at the moment.

We went at looked at some phones on the highstreet and started to get an idea of contracts. With 3 we were paying £20 a month for 600 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet and were having problems matching on the high street. I found mobiles.co.uk and their orange dolphin 30 offer with £10 per month discount, 600 mins, unlimited texts and 500mb of internet.

I had decided on the samsung jet and my husband couldn't decide between the jet or the nokia 5800.

On Sunday we ordered my husband's phone. I thought he had decided on the jet. On Monday afternoon (about 3.30) we ordered mine. We just wanted to see what happened with the first order and then I decided that I wanted a new phone too so ordered it rather than waiting. On the Monday we received emails about my phone pretty much straight away, with an email at 5.20 saying it was despatched, but it was after 5pm so we'd get it on the Wednesday instead (we chose royal mail).

Late afternoon monday we got emails about the phone we ordered on the Sunday. It was at this point that it became clear that my husband actually wanted the nokia and not the jet I ordered. Apparently, I made up the conversation where he told me he wanted the jet.

So I emailed mobiles.co.uk and asked if we could change it. On the Tuesday we got emails saying that that is ok and everything appeared ok (checked on the track order thing on the website). We got a despatch notice around lunchtime.

At 7.45am on the Wednesday (yesterday), Mr Postman arrives with two parcels. Mine was all present and correct but my husband had been sent the jet.

Contacted mobiles.co.uk who have replied to my emails (within the 4 hour deadline but usually quicker). They have said that the order wasn't changed on the warehouse system which is why we got the jet. To rectify this we need to return and cancel the phone and then re-order (obviously we would have preferred an exchange). A couple of emails late yesterday afternoon and then some emails this morning and resulted in a returns number and a promise to refund the postage.

So, so far: Very happy with what happened with my phone - phone is fab and delivery quick and easy. Just waiting for the first bill to make sure all is correct. Also, satisfied with what is happening with my husband's phone as it was marital miscommuncation that resulted in wrong phone being ordered in the first place. Yes, the order should have be changed correctly, but then I should have doubled/tripled/quadruple checked with him indoors!

I have already cancelled the gadget helpline thing on my account - quick and easy to do on the gadget helpline website. Just need to cancel the insurance.

Obviously we still have the cashback hoops to jump through and the first bills to come and have to re-order the new phone once we have returned the jet, but so far, satisfied with the communication and service. I may have been slightly persistant due to the posts on here and have a number of reference numbers and people's names, but it seems to have done the trick so far.

For the record I went for Samsung Jet on Dolphin 30 with £10 discount - 600 mins, unlimited text and 500mb with 15 months 1/2 price line rental by redemption. My husband will be going for Nokia 5800 on Dolphin 30 wth £10 discoun, 600 mins, unlimited texts and 500mb with 14 months 1/2 price line rental. Plus £40 quidco cashback each.
 Have you seen the price of penny chews these days

Let's hope it is a nice smooth ride :T

Good luck with the return and new order - I have spent weeks considering what phone I wanted and where I was going to get it from so that hopefully I avoid these situations - I just want a nice simple life :j

rca779, my previous contract ended in June but I gave o2 30 day notice and moved in May.

Got a deal with dialaphone for t-mobile with LG Cookie. £30 a month (its actually less if you consider the vat drop) - 8 months free with cashback. So thats £120 but I got £60 with quidco and £20 for refer a friend with dialaphone. Makes that £40 for 12 months.

My allowance is a little less than your deal - 300 minutes (thats all I need) and 200 texts. Contract ends 28/4/10 woo hoo.

I spent about £6 on a 2gig memory card for the phone from ebay - not using it (phone aint my favourite but it works).

I thought we had too - but apparently I either make up conversations with my husband or I don't listen - he can't decide which it was:rolleyes:! :rotfl:And if he complains about his phone when it finally arrives, I won't be a happy bunny.

I had a bonus, was with dialaphone in 2007, Sony k810i (and that was cheap as well 8 months free - cost me about £50-60 for the year).

Did a silly thing and signed up to o2 direct for n95 for another 12 months (£30 a months).

Flogged the n95 8gig for £145 prior to getting the lg cookie  and flogged the k810i last month on ebay for £31.

Just checked Dialaphone and they don't seem to be offering the Cookie anymore.

I also wanted to stay with Orange (I have an Orange PAYG).

Yeah, dialaphone stopped doing t-mobile deals a month or so ago, all to do with this merger with orange me thinks but it seems to be contract thing between them and phones4u. Less choice I fear.

Also the quidco for dialaphone has dropped to £40 so I got in just in time :-).
