Reconnection of line to get broadband

Hi all
Living in an old two-up two-down mid terrace, which previously had an active BT line and appears to have a cable box on the wall too. Bare in mind I know zero about cable as I've always had ADSL in the past.
BT inform me that the line is deactivated due to lack of use or something, the previous tenants didn't bother with it either.
I know it's £125 for a new connection, does that include reconnection? The BT site isn't too clear on it, it just says "you may not have to pay it".
I don't even want a phone, I'd never use it, but I do need my broadband. As there's a cable box already (one of those NTL looking ones that clings to the wall) can I just get that reconnected instead of worrying about a BT line?
Sorry if this has been discussed a billion times but there's so many threads/forums here and I'm somewhat short on time at the moment.
Any advice welcomed
thanks
Matt

HI Joonyer
Drop me a pm and either myself or one of my colleagues will run a test to see if this charge would be applicable.

The NTL line is now virgin media so you can get broadband with them without the need for a BT line.
You dont need a phone line with Virgin either as they do broadband only with no need for a line. ( this does limit your broadband supplier choice to just virgin though so cant have it with any other isp)0 -

If you are a new Sky Customer they are able to connect/restart phone lines.
http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/skyproducts/skytalk/linerental
"If you are a new Sky TV customer and subscribe to Sky Talk Line Rental and a Sky Talk calls package and you don't have an existing BT line, we can arrange installation of a new line. We will inform you of the installation charge when you place your Sky TV and Sky Talk order. If you miss or cancel your appointment without giving us at least 3 days notice, you will lose your install fee and we may make a further charge to cover any additional costs we incur."0 -
