No, they probably won't but it would look crap being white paint and not last long since what is put on the roads is melted thermoplastic with glass beads in it as paint just disappears.

In the end even if you paint it and maintain it what you going to do if someone parks in front of it? What if the council do notice- some do and fine people putting up posters etc on street furniture.

Get a dropped kerb in and problem is solved and everything is legit.

Ah this is true. It would act as a deterrent though. Depends how law abiding motorists are round the OPs neck of the woods.

but there would be now law to abide, as its just a line of paint. not a traffic ordered line of paint.
