Yes - I can believe that would be really cool.

Thanks. Have to wait until next April, but it'll come round.

Thanks for the info. Do you remember which type of train carriage you went on? There is a basic package without lunch - do you think that would be the best option? Their website makes the lunch sound nice (of course!). I'm not really a wine buff either, just thought it would make an interesting day out. Did you book in advance or when you got out there?

We booked in advance as it was a birthday present for OH.
It's an old fashioned kind of train, think Agatha Christies mystery and you're not far off. It just goes slowly up and down to be honest. It was $10 for four glasses of wine.
Funnily enough me and OH were talking about it today and he said the visit to Mondavi's vineyard was better. He also remembered the food on the wine train being a bit naff! You don't need to book in advance for the vineyard visits (and there are loads to choose from) just turn up.
We would both definitely go back to Napa but neither of us would do the wine train again.
And I'd recommend taking the ferry from Sausalito back to SF as it's a great view of the city from the boat.

Presidio..well it used to be a big military camp AFAIK but is now a mix of officers houses sold to private individuals and still some military accommodation

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presidio_of_San_Francisco

The film The Presidio was part filmed there (strangley enough)

When i was in the area,it was the memorial day weekend and the big military cemetery was being spruced up and look just perfect and serene (if a cemetery can be perfect)

Great! Walking over the bridge was on the to-do list, so we'll maybe do Sausalito that day too. Maybe walk in one direction and take public transport back if that's possible.

Exactly what we did, the buses are quite regular from Sausalito back into SF.
