What to do with credit?

I have posted below about my awful talktalk mobile experience.

I now have £87 mobile credit accrued on my phone, and the service is closing in a month. I CANNOT port the money to a different provider, I cannot change the SIM over to a different phone as it is the provider, not the phone that is being cancelled.

So I have £87 phone credit to spend quickly. so far I have thought of

- national lottery tickets
- some kind of system where I pay myself using my phone credit - HOW????

Any ideas?

  • thanks - I have had a look, its exactly what I have experienced - I think they must have added bits to the terms and conditions at a later date to when my dad signed up to the service and are now pretending they existed all along, as my parents are adament that they were sold the deal based on credit accuing, (longer than 60 days) - either talk talk messed up the T&Cs or their salesman at carphone warehouse mis-sold the service, either way they are a horrible organisation!

Some VOIP telephone services allow you to top-up an account with them by premium rate calls (e.g. VOIPtalk) or premium rate texts (e.g. the Betamax companies).

Of course, this is of no use if you don't use VOIP - and some mobile providers block those top-up numbers.

  • well all good ideas, unfortunately talktalk mobile doesn't seem to support any systems that allow me to pay by mobile.

Thinking donating it to charity through text may be better than the !!!!!! line ;-)
