Three contract has expired where to go now...?

Hello all,

Driving myself crazy sifting through the latests phones. I want to spend £15-25 a month on a phone ideally, but that said I really want an iPhone 3g s or something similar, specification wise. The iPhone is sadly out of my budget right now. However, I love gadgets!

I thought i'd post here to see if anyone has any suggestions as to a phone that can be purchased for around that much money a month but has similar features to the iPhone. The HTC touch looks to be the next nearest contender for me but I'm thinking of maybe just keeping my £15 a month three deal going until I find a reasonable deal on one of those.

Lost count of the hours I've spent on mobile phone review websites and onecompare this week! Any suggestions you guys can throw my way would be fab :j

  • Nearest to IPhone probably is the Android phones, like HTC Hero, Magic etc. Although Nokia do have the 5800 which i went for.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies

So how long have you had the 5800 and would you recommend it? Thanks
  • It arrived on 10th September this year.

For a 3.2 MP camera the quality seems good, and i am happy with the touch screen. Note the screen is optimised for stylus/finder nail use instead of fingers. So if your after the IPhone feel more i would go for the Hero/Magic.

Applications are limited but after the N95 8GB i gave up with them mostly, whilst there are a few on the Nokia IVO store (check it out if you like), once again the Hero/Magic phones is better for the amount of applications too.

Texting on a touch screen for me is quicker than a keypad, which was a concern when i brought it but I found it fine.

Reason why i went for the 5800 over Hero/Magic. Personally i feel the android phones are too big & heavy, and i don't get on well with slide out keyboards either, i have big fingers. I also got better value for money on the Nokia 5800 from orange.

For the true test of the phone, do what i did go into your local shops and ask to try them out.
