i have been a PAYG customer with o2 for many years using the 'top up £10 & get 300 free msg's' and the o2 numbers (1000 mins/msg to most used o2 numbers) this has suited me fine but just recently i have aquired friends who are not on o2 and i have had to top up alot more.
My phone is also completely broke, so i was considering moving to a contract, i would like a deal that offers around 500 texts and 300ish mins to anyone and i don't want to be paying much more that £20ish a month.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated (i have never been on a contract before)

Hi, I've just joined this forum after looking at various stories about mobile phone contracts etc.
Like you I have recently switched from PAYG to contract. I am still on Orange and like you I was topping up £10 a month and getting 300 free texts with that.
I switched to contract simply because it was cheaper.
I had a decent...ish phone anyway and so I was reluctant to to pay a lot of money a month for a new phone that I didnt really need. Buying a sim-only contract also seemed an expensive option.
What I did was get a contract from e2save via Quidco, to get the £40 cashback, and the deal was I would effectively be paying £3.93 a month if I claim all my cashback back, which I will. If you also add the money I got from Quidco it works out I am actually paying £1.70 a month. The deal I got is 400 mins and unlimited texts on a 18 month contract. The drawback is the phone is very basic so all I have done is switch back to my old phone, which I was happy to stick with in the first place, with my new contract SIM card. So instead of paying £10 a month im now paying £1.70 for the next 18 months.
If you are happy to trust yourself to remember when to send your bill in to calim the cashback then I would give e2save a try since they have some good deals. My friend has also purchased from their site a Nokia 6700 on contract and he is paying something like £13 a month for 600 mins and unlimited texts.
Remember to cancel the insurance and gadget helping stuff when you get the phone as well. I have just spent the morning doing my homework and reading up on stories where people have forgot to cancel and be charged.0 -
Cautionary note. Be aware I have read several complaints about people been unable/difficult to claim cashback from e2save. If you can't afford it without the cash back don't risk been stuck with a hefty monthly bill.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
