Morning everyone
Thank you Fay for that post - it made me realise I am the same - no off switch here either. I am trying very hard to find one though!!!!
I xTarget for MAD - 24:)0 -
Planet saving is grand tis indeed my mission
- and you're right, finally its fashionable to be frugal, it use to be called 'being poor' or living on a budget in my childhood!
Yeah, I don't do anything 'normally'
I've never seen the point in moderation - things change I guess.......
- doh (lurks etc go on, do your best with that statement!:rotfl:)
wouldn't dream of it:whistle: :whistle:Neigh, neigh, and thrice neigh

I know I can manage with everything in moderation, BUT - I wonder if one of the issues is those of us prone to over-indugance - almost like an obsessive complusive part of our personality?
I know we've talked about this before - myself (and I can only speak for me) I do NOTHING in moderation.
Everything I do (generally) is utterly obsessively/excessively to the extreme I can manage - its like I don't have an 'off or moderation button'.
I am learning - slowly and its like having to constantly put the brakes on.
Anyone else the same? Or is it a stupid question?
I mean for me:
I eat excessively
I fidget excessively
If I drink I do this excessively
I work obsessively
I've studied to the highest point I can
I've moved as remotely as I possibly can (and when I've lived in cities - I tend to live right in the middle to be 100% involved)
I play hard and generally do everything in my life to the point of excess
(I am even excessively frugal - if that makes any sense?:rotfl:)
Is it part of a greater 'addictive or obsessive' personality issue for folks like me?
PS where is the shruggy smiley?
PPS that's why its all or nothing I think with the old alkofrol for me - (at least that's my opinion)
Great post.
I would think that Addiction and Obsession are closely linked, though this my view only.
I sometimes think I have an excess of desires, thus I want to do things to excess.
Maybe it is my desire to run away from myself and responsibilities??? Why? Because I don't think much of myself I guess0 -

Would have to agree with this GC. I have the tendency, like Fay, to go at things hell to leather - no matter what they are. Be it drinking, eating, dieting, abstinence etc. I have the tendency to get "obsessed" with things (such as spending time on the computer!!). Hence why I have a plethora of self-help books! Its all or nothing and, with some things, I do believe this can cause you to cross the line into addiction.
However, I do believe it is possible to pull yourself out of this. Obviously harder with some obsessions/addictions than others.**Keep Calm and Carry On!**0 -
i used to be a bit obsessive about things but now I just don't have the energy - I kind of miss that slightly manic edge to life but appreciate the calm waters.
Some great posts today - lots to think about - thanks.Trying to keep in budget.

Hello all;
I have a Washing Machine brain and things go round, and round, and round, and round.................................
I can never sleep at night because of this and in my drinking days I used to knock myself out with alcohol.
Now I just watch rubbish TV (i.e. Celebrity Big Brother at 2 a.m.), play with my laptop or read.
Remember that we deal with alcohol,

Funny how just one drinking day can set you back to the demon calling bells and looking like a deranged Jim Carey look a like in the supermarket arguing with yourself - sorry if I sound a bit down, I'm OK - honest. A day at a time is fine by me - yesterday was AF and I'll work on today...........................going to order a couple of those books RA mentioned - perfect daughter etc
I did laugh at that because I can relate but a serious point too.I know I can manage with everything in moderation, BUT - I wonder if one of the issues is those of us prone to over-indugance - almost like an obsessive complusive part of our personality?

I am the same Fay.
No AF day for me today. Someone brought me round a bottle of champagne. Needless to say I have shared that with DH (and resented every mouthful he took away from me!) and he has gone to get some more wine from the shop.
Back on AF tomorrow. I have to be up early for a drive on Saturday morning and I get car sick so I can't be hungover for that.HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Loved the picture of Freud and his dog. Brilliant.
I wonder if I look like mine:
This was taken on her 15th birthday last May and she is still going strong. I was expecting to get soaked that day hence the coat.
Been busy with my to do list but it seems like never ending battle at the moment.
Despite being under "HALT" at the moment today is no 21 for me please HB."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."
