    Hi all

Squizz- so sorry to hear you had such a negative experience re: detox meds, especially after you got yourself all geared up for it and put some plans in place. I must admit it all boils down to finding a compassionate GP with experience of addictions and alcohol problems- I've had quite a few home detox's using meds (chlordiazapoxide) and they do take the edge off and help with any withdrawal symtoms you might have BUT they do make you feel a bit out of it and dopey, and its good to have a friend or family member supporting you and checking on you daily to make sure you are OK. The meds just help you with physical side effects of stopping drinking so theres still all the psychological stuff to do, and that can take quite a long time to work through. Whatever you agree with your gp, BEST OF LUCK WITH IT....and remember everyones journey is different even if there are a lot of similarities in our experiences.

    Good luck everyone tonight.

Heavens! Squizz, I'm so sorry - I got caught up in turning myself into a polar bear with a Christmas hat! :D

I'm really sorry about your bad experience & I hope your own doctor can help some more. Best of luck :)
