The giving up/cutting down alcohol support thread! Part 5

  • Hi all,

I've not been here for a while, not because I couldn't find you but because I have failed miserably in controlling the wine.

I went for a night out and drank tonic water all night, but as we were about to leave some-one was going to leave a glass of wine. My habit of never ever throwing anything away kicked in and I drank it thinking just one won't hurt and I've had a bottle every night since for the last ten days!!!

Somebody on here has a sig saying something like 'one is too many - a thousand is never enough', that certainly rings true with me.

I will now pick myself up, dust myself down and start again (for the umpteenth time)! I don't normally log in during the evening so maybe I should change my routine and come on here for the support when I need it most.

Hope everyone else is well, I will go back and try to catch up with everyone now, it was on about page 45 last time I was here so lots to read.

Please can you put me down for 20 AFD's in October Fay, I know it is optimistic but it is Monday and I am feeling positive today.

    MOS X
  • Hello again,

I just went back to when I last logged in and it was page 29!!!! Have managed to read about 10 pages or so, but have to get the kids up for school now.

Have decided to take the tip from someone who transfers £4 a day to their savings account - sorry I can't remember who suggested it but thank you - hopefully this will give me some incentive to keep going on my AF mission.

    MOS X

    Morning all!

Sorry I'm late on parade again - please put me down for 21 AF days again this month. I'm already up to four, but we've got a big family party towards Halloween which will be a big test. I'm trying not to think about that for the moment..

    Hope everyone's well :)

    Snowy

Edit - seems the threads have been merged and moved, so sorry for repeating myself :D.

Hello good morning (slowly catching up) Mumofseven - well done, its a great incentive - when I started to do it - I used the money to treat myself/my family to silly stuff to remind me how much money I was wasting on alcohol and how much other goood things we could do

Have put you down for 20 days at £4 a day :) good luck - I so know the glass of wine leading to more and more!

Sosadangel - Its Tesco's lightly sparkling crush 'scottish raspberry' NOT finest just normal £1.50 for 2 bottles I think (very expensive!!)

Snowymalone - put you down for 21 days (any idea of the amount you'd normally spend on alcohol? If you don't mind I'd love to add that too - and by the way 4 gold stars well done****
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

Awww thank you! I'm all chuffed now :D

I'd probably spend £20 - 30 a week on alcohol, sometimes more, sometimes less, as I'd go for the 2-for-1s and half-prices at the supermarket every time, no matter what they were. I once bought nine 24 packs of Strongbow at Morrisons as it was on three for two - reckless and selfish, yes, but at the time I thought "Way hey! 72 free cans of cider!!" - and it did last me the best part of a month.

Call it £100 a month and you'd be about right.

    Morning All

Up early and on a mission. There will be NO alcohol in this house today.

48 hour headache has finally gone me thinks. Need to drink plenty of water today and rehydrate.

    Have a good day all..

    xx
