Internet filter

Once my broadband is back up and running, is there a free child filter I can install on my home PC to limit the kids access to indecent or over-age images? Ive seen many subscription ones but im hoping for a money saving tip of a free one!
Thanks

You can do it the other way round for free by using a firewall. Basically you get the firewall to block all internet access except to sites that you specifically allow. Also called whitelisting (as opposed to blacklisting). Many free firewall packages can do this (like zonealarm).

As for child filter software, it is a double edged sword in that yes, you can filter objectionable content but, you have to let some americans decide what is OK and what isn't. True you can have an overide facility for selected websites but it can be frustrating at times when perfectly normal websites are blocked because there is something on them which is objectionable to the Americans.
