Although weirdly, I am chatting on MSN to CAG (cute anaesthetist guy....remember him? Took us forever to meet, and then it was a bit too brother/sister?). We have ended up being quite good mates.

  • Ames, when i make a stew i just bung everything in the pot together - no browning or anything, add water and an oxo cube, cook for about 1 1/2 hrs on 180deg C then thicken the liquid with gravey granuals, add dumplings if i'm having them , cook til dumplings are done and then serve.

Thanks Scaredy, I decided just to have the veg, taties and a lump of cheese. Not a traditional combination, but it covered all food groups!

I'll put the beef in the slow cooker in the morning with some tinned tomatoes and spices. Would chick peas or spinach go with it? Not sure what else I've got to throw in.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • chick peas would be excellent Ames.
