Its only recently they have started asking me to create the vbv security check thingy, but the info they are asking for is what I gave them approx 10 years ago for registering with phone bank.
Edit: haven't used phone banking since they introduced internet banking.
oh haha, thought you meant when you registered for VbV :rolleyes:0 -

It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted

Just so you don't feel you are alone, my Nationwide VBV sometimes works sometimes doesn't. Sometimes they say VBV has gone through okay sometimes they say it has blocked it but they do not know why. It all takes a lot of phone calls typing in your full account number etc etc (which they later ask you to give them again).
The only suggestion I have is to use PayPal where ever possible.
(No I don't work for them!)0 -

These automated systems I presume take no account of previous account usage, as any half competent human looking at my account would see the transaction is in line with 100s of similar transactions I carry out.
But surely when a transaction is made, backed up by Verified by Visa, it should not be declined full stop. I mean when the announced the scheme is was hailed as being able to stop all card not present fraud.
You're right, that's what VbV was supposed to do. I have my doubts, but hey at least they're trying. For whatever reason, it seems that Nationwide have a brain dead implementation of it.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
Gambling sites are what a lot of fraudsters use to turn your CC balance into cash, so it doesn't matter how many times you tell your provider which sites you frequent, they will keep blocking them regardless due to the high risk nature of them.
