Why cant Ebay go through all the "clear plastic wallet" auctions, and suspend any user offering these as they are obviously selling fakes? They need to do something to rebuild the community's trust in the site, which is nowadays full of fakes and scammers.

Was it a tv show which obviously isn't out on dvd yet? Like Lost Season 2 or something like that?

If you paid by PayPal raise a complaint through them asking for your money back as item was significantly different than that listed - it takes a while but they should rule in your favour.

Leave the seller -ve feedback - this may stop others from buying DVDs from this seller.

Report the auction to eBay - they might take action (probably not but they do occasionally).

DVD buying on eBay is such a risk these days - and eBay doesnt seem to want to do anything about it (it would hurt their profits which is all they care about). Another giveaway is where the seller states the sleeve may vary from the one shown.

I wouldn't call buying DVD's on eBay a 'risk.' As long as you keep your wits about you, and look out for the tell tale signs of sellers who are dealing in fakes then you can't go for wrong. Always read the sellers feedback and for me I look for it to be over 100 and 100% positive, before I would make a purchase.

If you're unsure then you can always ask the seller explicitly if the item is genuine. Failing this of course if you still end up with a pirate copy you can inform eBay, PayPal and your local Trading Standards Office.

I got sold a copy a while ago, paid £15 for it so in no way did the auction even HINT that it was a copy. I sent the dvd back, got a refund through Paypal and gave them negative feedback.... what did they do? Neg'd me in turn!

I reported the seller to ebay but haven't heard anything back. I don't buy new dvds off ebay anymore, I use amazon

i happen to disagree with that sorry!

when i have ever sold cds on there i always send them in clear plastic cases as not only does it reduce the postage cost on them working out cheaper for the buyer but when i buy them myself i get rid of the cases they come in keep the inserts and store them in a cd wallet!

so thats not always the case ;)
