Specsavers & Vision Express Problem

I had an eye test in Vision Express and then took the prescription to Specsavers to buy my glasses. When I collected the glasses from specsavers they just aren't right, my vision is slightly blurred, not massively, but enough that it is noticeable. Specsavers have offered to do a free re-eyetest because they think Vision Express have mucked up the prescription (they would say that mind:rolleyes:) and are adamant that my new specs are correct....
So assuming they claim the prescription is incorrect, where do I stand...
I've paid £100 of the £219 to specsavers...I am going to have to buy the duff glasses and order new ones?

If Specsavers have made glasses to the prescription then you will have to pay. They have offered you a free retest so are more than doing enough IMO.
Just because I'm nosy - why didn't you have an eyetest and buy your glasses in the same place?0 -
Specsavers were offering the better deal.
Surely Vision express must have some liability for giving me a duff prescription?{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -
I would have thought so. Have you back to Vision Express and asked? At least a free eye test and take it from there.0

You might just find that they will check your prescription and remake the lenses at no charge - it's good customer service. I know some Specsavers do that, but it does vary from branch to branch. Try asking them.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

That would be nice, I'd have thought however as the prescription was provided by someone else they'll say "poke off, we made what you asked for."{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -
Is there any way of telling what the prescription is from the glasses? If there is, you could take them to an independent shop, hand them the glasses, and ask them what the lens prescription is.
If they say it's the same as what Vision Express said, then it's Specsavers who are wrong, and if they say it's something different, then take up Specsavers on the free eye test, and see if it matches what they say!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I plan to have the free specsavers re-test on Monday....
I just want to weigh up my options to go postal at someone after that;){Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -
I am currently looking for a practitioner to have an eye test. I currently wear daily disposables and have a pair of specs for backup.
The specs were made up by Boots and to be honest, they are not much good.
When i first started to use contact lenses, i had an excellent practitioner. He was an independent and very skilled and professional. He was a measure twice, cut once kind of guy and every time he dispensed, the glasses or contacts were perfect and right first time. Sadly he retired and it seems really difficult to find someone of a similar standing.
What are specsavers/vision express like? I have tended to seek out independants but they seem to be getting fewer and fewer and some of them seem to have an attitude especially when we get to the issue of supply of contact lenses.0 -
Have you spoken to Vision Express? Ask V-E to examine the Specsavers glasses and say whether or not they match the prescription.
If V-E say the Specsavers glasses do match the prescription, and you say the glasses don't seem right, then V-E should at least offer a free re-test, and may well offer to make up the glasses from the new prescription for no charge (not free frame obviously).
If V-E say the Specsavers glasses don't match the prescription, then you can go back to Specsavers and ask for the glasses to be remade, or you can ask Specsavers for your money back and go to V-E to get the glasses.
I've found V-E very good about putting right anything that is wrong. I haven't had experience with Specsavers but in general I think most of the high street opticians would probably want to put things right.0 -
