Marriage Counselling

  • Sorry to hear your story. I would personally advise to go ahead with counselling for two reasons. Firstly it should help you to communicate and secondly it should help you to establish the origins of the problems. It can be difficult for someone in a relationship to see exactly what is going on whereas an outsider can pick up things not only in what you say but also in how you react to one another. In a similar way, *if there are communication problems* in the relationship it can also help to set up a video camera and record yourselves. When you play it back - perhaps watch it individually to start with and think about what you see before discussing it - it will allow you to see how you react to the other party by seeing it from a different angle and can be quite revealing about how you come across and therefore how the other person perceives you.

I hope this helps a little bit. I believe understanding the problem is the second step to putting things right - solving it is the third. The first is wanting to and it seems you've reached that already. Whatever you decide to do I hope it works out for you.

    Best wishes :-*
