V21 ADSL Plus Freetalk? Warning Overcharging

A warning to all V21 customers who signed up for Freetalk and get their internet access reduced by £2 for doing so. In my case upto 8mb (2gb cap) £11.98 reduced to £9.98 by taking Freetalk.

See here for more information: http://www.v21.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=8978
(you can only access this page if your a member & signed in)

Basically they appear to have started charging a minimum charge of £2 a month for phone calls. My own calls last month were 10p (2x5p) and they charged me £2.

This will not be a problem for anyone who spends more than £2 a month on calls but anyone using a carrier preselect or like me makes all outgoing calls on my mobile all inclusive minutes will find it a huge problem.

Says: "Minimum call spend applies, see terms and conditions for full details." In the small print.

Now this was never in the T&C's before.

Even though its says "see terms and conditions for full details." There are no links to any T&C's on this site!

Only place I can find T&C's is If you go to the freetalk website (part of V21) here:

http://www.freetalktele.com/index.asp

There is nothing in the T&C's about a minimum monthly spend.

If you look at Section 10.2 of the current T&C it states:-

10.2. We shall be entitled to amend our price list from time to time and we will notify you of such changes by posting an amended price list on our website at https://www.intechsfc.co.uk. If the rates are decreased such decrease will be reflected in your next bill. Should we increase the charges we shall provide you with 15 Working Days notice of such increase and the increase will take effect from the end of that period. In this instance you may be entitled to terminate this contract at any time on providing us with 10 Working Days notice, such notice to expire before the price increase takes effect.

If you go to https://www.intechsfc.co.uk you can find the residential tariffs on this page. I cannot find any mention of a minimum amount.

This seems like a blatant breach of contract.

V21's own staff last year confirmed there would be no charges, advice here:

I Quote

Essex Guy: "All this for NO outlay even if I NEVER make a chargeable call?

PaulM: "Yes to all of the above."
