In general 6years, again depending if the business were covered as such by GISC (General Insurance Standards Council) where the FSA taken over in Jan 2005, the Financial ombudsman service (FOS will only investigate complaints if protected by these regulators - although some have been successful with having their complaints resubmitted back to the FOS on cases prior to Jan 2005.
