No-one uses the same stuff the local chinese do? Curry paste ..just add water and simmer or microwave a minute ..add meat or vegs and you won't know it's not from the chinese takeaway. Costs about 2 to 3 quid for a tub that makes 2 to 4 pints depending on your supplier....ebay has some decent suppliers.

It's nice to be able to make curry and chip suppers on spec or spice up a dreary meal in a short time.

  • Asda are now selling their curry sauce at a "special offer" price of 4p. I don't know what the sauce is like as I pour it drown the drain - I only buy it for the jars for my jam making - much cheaper than buying them at Lakeland when I run short of jars!!!

This reminds me of school dinner curry, and we all like it.

I will have to remember to try these. I don't think they'd be too spicy for my two year old, as he once tried a bit of a vindaloo I had, and came back for more!
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

In my 'baby book' mum had written just after weaning that my favourite food was chicken curry! Now I'm veggie it wouldn't be chicken, but I still adore curry.
  • Never seen the curry sauce but will look for it now - would be great for a base - is it a indian cook sauce in a jar? or is it in a bottle with the ketchups?

I just tried the curry sauce tonight, and even gave it to my curry fiend sister. It's not nice, tastes almost sour, she hated it too?

    Not for me.
  • It's in a tin, usually on the bottom shelf. It's near the rice in my store. The sweet and sour's also edible but I find it needs a bit of help and sometimes add a little vinegar to 'up' the sour bit x
