"Computer Says No" Award to Abbey and Na
crankup

My old man has been meaning to open a mini cash isa for a while and finally got round to it this week. I'd suggested he check out the Nationwide and Abbey. He is not online, in his 60s and prefers to visit a branch.
1st stop - Abbey. He has an acct there already.
"I've got all my letters, ID docs, NI number etc - can I open a cash isa?"
Girl : "Umm, well, heres a form you can take away."
Dad : "Can we fill it in now? I have all my ID? I dont want to get it wrong and make extra trips."
Girl : "Well, we're a bit busy at the moment. Sorraayy."
2nd Stop. Nationwide. Same scenario.
Girl : "We can book you in next Tuesday to fill in your form."
Dad : "I'm at work Monday to Friday."
Girl stares blankly. Dad leaves.
3rd Stop - HSBC.
Girl : "No problem. Thanks for bringing all the correct docs, makes it easy and we can do it right away."
So he ended up with 4.35% - at least its monthly.
Therefore I award the Weymouth Abbey and Nationwide branches the 1st "Computer Says No" Award of 2005.
Feel free to hand out some awards - hopefully they'll be few. :-/
