But any work has to be done to manufacturer standards.
What car is it anyway most will be out of warranty by the time you need an MOT. Most warranties are 3 years.
Its an 04 Peugeot. Bought it last year and paid for a 5 year warranty (well, 3 year but came with another 2 free supposedly !)0 -
Ah so who is supplying this extended warranty? What is included/excluded etc be careful. You need to do some research into this warranty so you know where you stand.0

To be fair to main dealers they tend to use a red amber green system when servicing cars.
RED - needs repairing now
GREEN - Is Fine.
AMBER though is considered to be ADVISORY. very open to interpretation. Many will tick amber for work that will probably need to be done before the next service. Bearing in mind they dont know the way you drive or how many miles you will do in the next 12 months many things can be ticked as amber that dont need fixing at the moment.
The guy on the front desk will interpret this tick as it COULD need sorting out or will do soon and you start building up a huge repair bill.
Your local garage will only fix what needs fixing as they want to keep bills low and get repeat business.
Manufacturers have been trying to launch accompanied servicing where your car is inspected with you present to show you any issues for years but the public in the UK just dont want to know. In the continent its very popular.
Honest view is its not they are trying to rip you off but more likely cover their backsides. If your hose had gone in 3 months and they had not ticked it amber you would be straight back in their complaining service wasnt done properly and you want your money back (and you would probably get it)0 -

I used to own a relatively old Jaguar. I normally had it serviced at a main dealer. The service director would then go through the the service report and divide the findings between 'things that we are obliged as a main dealer to tell you about' and 'things you ought to address in the near future'.0
