PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. I was at uni in sheffield and also lived with Unite
My boyfriend was always at my place (Practically living there because he did his post grad at sheffield too)
and i think the people at Unite knew that my partner didnt have his own flat at unite yet they never said anything
At the end of the day, they cannot say anything to you if the people who are staying are guests. It doesnt mention anything in the contract about not allowing people to stay over. So i would argue you were not subletting but letting people stay over.0 -
Over on the other thread, in the other place #23 brings up the OFT guidelines on what is reasonable. That reads quite 'hopefully'
I think the problem here (between this thread and the other one), is some questions have still not been answered really ... and it's only one half of the story, some of it 2nd hand.0 -
They seem to possibly want the OP out because her guests were affecting the quiet enjoyment of whichever flatmate complained? Another possible argument for breach that would avoid having to argue about whether they were authorised guests and whether a key should be provided to guests in the absence of the tenant.
If you want proper legal advice that you can personally rely on, go and talk to your Professor of Land Law....most students hate land law so somebody interested in their subject may be a big compliment to them, lol.0
