Driving test in a few hours

Options
I have my driving test in a few hours and i am so nervous! I want to pass so much, but know there is a good chance i won't (being realistic).

I've got a driving lesson later on just before.

Anyone got any tips?

HELP!!

Be patient and observant. Relax, breath deeply and stay calm.

    Good luck.

  • don't focus on passing, focus on what it takes to pass - you've had lessons so feel confident.

I failed my first one because i was too nervous and the female examiner was quite intimidating.

She got me to do a turn in the road at the start of the test, and said 'don't touch the kerbs' i'd NEVER touched the kerbs ever in a lesson but i did that time  It completely messed me up for the rest of the time.

In the end i failed for approaching a roundabout too fast which of course i disagreed with :p

Passed the next time, because i knew what to expect and wasn't as nervous. I'd put a lot of pressure on myself the first time round because of the expense of a re-test, which of course, made me fail but i'm glad i failed.

So the obvious rules apply really, even if you muck up at the start, then it's likely you WON'T fail, as long as you handle it correctly and don't let it affect the rest of the lesson.
  • Thanks, I am a bit calmer now, looking at clips on the net and doing lots of reading. Fingers crossed i don't get a reverse park as i am git and miss with that! I am just going to take my time with my mirrors and blind spots etc.

Ah, negative reinforcement - that's evil. (Ever see Derren Brown make a professional tightrope-walker fall off by saying "don't fall off"?)
  • OP - Hope it went ok yesterday.

  • I failed on my revesrse left! i was reversing when a car came from the road behind me and one each way on the road, i had to get out the way, so pulled forward. When i did it again it was so wide, i was nearly on the other side of the road! got my next one start of oct now. Felling loads better about that because i know they aren't that bad really. Sorry you failed. :(

Look on it as experience gained. Next time you will know what to expect and will drive with more confidence, less nerves and more faith. :)
