I have been using a laptop (running on XP) and a PC (on vista) networked together for ages but just recently (I have no idea why !!) the PC no longer appears in My network places on the Lappy. Any help will be much appreciated, thanks....

Can you connect to the internet OK from both machines and have you installed any software on either machine recently? If so, it may be interfering with your connection. For example, some Internet Security Suites will block certain connections unless you ensure the settings are correct for what you want to do.0

The internet is ok on both machines. As far as I know nothing has changed, apart from automatic updates from Microsoft...0

and re-run the network setup wizard on both machines again............Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

This problem drove me mad for ages - until I found out about the network tool provided by Microsoft. Google is your friend- http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=navclient&hl=en-GB&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGLL_en-GBGB319GB319&q=XP+network+lltd0

Ah...last time I had this problem on mini-Gun's lappys, I had to re-run the wizard a couple of times before they settled down properly...still don't know why, but it worked...other than that, try temp switching off firewalls..some windows updates alter firewall settings (by design or side-effect, who knows
