DESPERATE help needed....

me and my classmates needed to take a video of our uni campus for an assignment.

done that and got it downloaded onto movie maker on our uni's comp, but on fri i saved it to a cd-rom to take it home for my bro to have a go at editing it (we need to add music, cuts bits etc)

when i got home the cd was blank (for some reason it didnt save even thou i double checked before we left) so today i went in and saved it to a usb pen and took it home again.

i opened the file through my comp and found it and movie maker appears but so does a message saying " corrupted file" and i cant access the movie?? what exactly is or could be the problem it needs to be handed in in two days and we are stuck!??

please any advice would be grateful!!!

One first impressions, the CD was blank, and the file on the usb pen is corrupt, so there aren't any magic answers apart from trying it again..

Is it an avi, mpg, did it play on the uni pc? Is either a MAC?
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

How 'small' was the film file to be able to moved onto a USB pen ? ( check it's size to see its MB size )

Why not retry to save the file onto a disk but verify it after ( Toast would be able to do that ?)

I think the toast comment was to signify that that isn't a surefire way of checking integrty of the file :)

If the file is corrupt then there is little you can do but try again. Make sure there is enough room on the USB drive though to make sure that this isn't what caused the corrupted file. Also worth bearing in mind is that uni computers are notorious for being virus riddled so this could pose a problem...

Nothing for it but to try again I'm afraid...

At my uni we can remotely access our uni accounts from home so can access all our files and things remotely, maybe theres something like that at yours? An email to your campus computer centre should tell you more.

If its possible, you can just login in from home and copy it over from your uni account to your home pc.
    I'm better off without you.
