Cavity Wall Insulation Wasn't Actually Done

A strange thing here. We got our cavity walls insulated in 2007. We didn't notice an improvement in our warmth or a reduction in our heating bills. Last week we got some brickwork repaired which involved taking out about 150 bricks....and guess what? No cavity wall insulation! Hmmmm, that's mean, very mean. We are speaking, somewhat tersely, with the company concerned.

(Incidentally soon after we raised the complaint they said a surveyor had come round, looked at the house and found the insulation was complete! We said, funny, but we have photos of exposed walls showing it is not... He called back shortly after and said "Sorry, wrong house".)

You need to name & shame the company really to warn others to be on their guard!

Or tell trading standards/ warmfront etc what has happened and suggest that the other clients properties should be surveyed.

I'd be looking for a refund of the original cost or at least expenses to cover the additional time off work to supervise the work.

You're out of pocket for at least 2 winter's worth of insulation and they claim you can save £100 per year......so I would think you'd be entitled to £200 of lost savings.

At least that's what I'd be asking for.

Its ok asking for compensation but legally they are not required to give any. Its worth asking though

Possibly....but surely by claiming to have installed it and taking money for it then they're guilty of theft?

If I paid for something that was supposed to benefit me financially but discovered I hadn't been given what I paid for and therefore not saved the money I should have, I'd be looking for those savings to be paid to me since that was the reasoning for the original purchase.

I think, given the circumstances, it would be quite easy to get some sort of good will/compensation payment from them.
