Fridge not right

Ok bought an LG USA fridge freezer a few weeks ago from currys and the doors have disaligned themselves so there is a gap at the bottom yet they meet at the top, had the engineer round and he was baffled (not good) he said he will contact LG and they will be in touch.

When it was delivered the lads would not bring in due to the weight as we are upstairs so i got dh and 4 others to carry up..nightmare tbh so the options are :

poss new doors (but not convinced as sure it was fine when we got)
new one (what do we do with stacks of food in the meantime & who takes it down etc)

Is there much else we can do as not a happy bunny after spending so much money.
Thanks

I would wait to see the response from LG before continuing.

I must admit, I've no idea how they are put together, but it could be something like a faulty hinge which could be replaced and you'd never have another problem. Given the trouble you had getting it in, it might be easier to get it fixed rather than replaced.

  • i agree, sounds like the hinge is loose or damaged.

let LG come back to you as the previous reply says and then decide.

After it is resolved, ask the retailer for a goodwill gesture for your inconvenience...

Thanks yeah i really REALLY! don't want to think about getting it out so if it can be repaired great! if not they can sort it out! As for the goodwill normally it wouldnt matter but i had the day off yesterday and so did dh and i was stuck in while he went out for lunch!..supposed to get a call before 12pm and come 12.45pm i had to call them..they said between 3+4pm to which i returned home to dh at 4.15pm from school run and they hadn't been..they rung and said on way not far..when he showed at 5.20grr he had been miles away and not told me so yeah i was pretty annoyed.
He said nothing strained or bent etc which doesn't help to the prob but will have to wait and see.
    Thanks

I have an LG Americn style fridge freezer and the doors are designed to come off to make them easier to deliver.
I expect if you removed the door and put it back on again, it might be OK.

Having said that, my husband and father nearly came to blows getting mine into the kitchen... :)

Ooh I had the mother of all fall outs with Comet over a damaged door on my Zanussi fridge Freezer. They wanted the whole lot back. I argued with them that it would mean emptying the entire thing while they sent men to lug it up to the first floor etc etc and surely it was easier to send me a single door?

They wouldn't have any of it so i called Zanussi who promised to call Comet. I didn't hear anything for a few days and then a new door turned up via courier :)

I still dont know if it was Comet or Zanussi that sorted it, but either way it was a lot simpler than replacing the entire thing.

I said this to the man and he agreed fitting new doors prob better so we will see just a bit concerned that there appears to be noticable prob which might show but hey ill let them sort out!
we had to get dh and his mates carry it up which at the time was hell as had a last min attempt to find numerous men to carry it up as was left downstairs! i do not want to re do any of it!! fingers crossed.
The only thing im worried about (and my sister will sigh!!) i studied it profusely as glossy and there are a few tiny marks on it but ill be like it with the new ones if they do that..hmm maybe i shouldn't have got it and this is my warning!

I really hope they don't BUT if they are willing to take it away and pay for all my food loss then fine!

That was my main argument. Comet weren't. The problem was we had got rid of our old FF that morning, so we had no choice but to use the new one. Comet actually suggested we take our food round to a neighbour

Well update! just rung LG as they are dealing with it now, it looks like it's unable to be repaired which is a nightmare now i think about it as the fridge and freezer are both full of food..grr..they say as soon as they get the report through they will send it out then we go to Currys and arrange another delivery/collection..i guess the easier bit is it is a no ice in the freezer but the ice machine is full etc and unsure how we empty that out so it doesnt leak everywhere.. So we will have to state that it has to go up 16 stairs and see what they say as last time it appeared to be tough once they were here..i also asked why they only sent 2 men for something so big and they said because it was the max they drove with.. Sigh it's going to be great fun this! NOT!

Providing it's all down on the delivery notes, you should be fine (they'd only not be able to carry it in if it will pose a risk to them, yourself or your house)

And the drivers do take the doors off to help get it in.
