    1. DD shows as taken on theexcat day (for me it is today and the transaction is already there. What's more, the money won't leave my current account for another two days.

But DD's cannot be taken on a non-banking day, therefore if the due date falls on a sunday it won't be taken to the next working day, hence why it's says it will be taken 'within 3 days' of the due date. Has your due date always fallen on a weekday maybe ?
    2. This is the only card in my opinion that allows you to pay the due amount on the date they're due - provided you do it at a Post office branch. I've done it in the past and there was no late payment charge/fee. (perhaps smone else could corroborate the Pt.2?)

The payment isn't immediately registered as such, (that takes two working days) but it will noted as paid at the time of the transaction with the PO, therefore avoiding any late payment fees etc

There are other cards where this is possible and I've have mentioned it here a few times though there are many people here who just don't believe it's possible. Ones I personally know about and currently use/have used are ;-

Lloyds - Pay cash only in branch over the counter on the due date. Will always shows up on online banking the next day with the date you made the payment over the counter.

Mint - Call and make a debit card payment on the due date. C/s will sometimes advise you may get charged for being late. You won't as the format is the same as the PO.

Amex - Call and make a debit card payment. They don't like you to make payments this way and always tell me to use online banking. Of course I never do as paying online on the due date doesn't work, but paying over the phone the payment is ...as above.
    3. You can request online to be called back - and they DO call you back
    4. So far their staff were polite and willing to help whenever I've spoken with them

And they have a freefone number which handles all queries.
p.s gone are the days when they'd give you around £25 for even what turned out to be an unsuccessful applicatin via cashback site like Quidco, but I had 3 such payments for the one card I've got in the end.

Think I only got £20 at the time, but none the less a good bonus.

Is it just me who struggles with the PO website (credit card section only) when using IE, i'm using the most recent IE and normally only get a small PO logo in the corner

I find that only usually happens when the site is running slow and leaving it for a couple of mins or refreshing the page usually works.

Just an update. Still hadn't received my credit card, although received a letter saying 'if you haven't received it within five days of this letter then call us'. SO I did.

Turns out that they forgot to order me a new one. Just forgot. Didn't even try to cover it up. Aren't they just really bloody great? I've really had it with this shower now.

Just to let you know Sarah, i got my card with no problems today. However don't expect any internet banking !

I registered earlier and couldn't even view my account details using the Mac.

    DD it is then.
  • i had soo much hassle with PO it is unbelievable.

had 3 or 4 missed paymebt charges because my statement didn't arrive (and they wouldn't accept my word on this).

took 3 letters to change my address with the last strongly worded as " my redirection has now stopped and if you continue to send statements to this address i will be closing the account as anyone can know gain access to my personal details".

they are the only complany who make you queue in a PO or pay for a professional to sign a copy of your marriage certficate and passport before you can change the name on your account!!

I very quickly got a new card, transferred the balance and now have it incase i ever have a huge emergency....funnily the minute the balance was cleared they uped my limit by £500.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:
  • Does the PO CC application offer an instant answer or is it 7/10 wait for letter to arrive in the post??

It was instant. BUt they didn't tell me my credit limit for two weeks which was a bit annoying.
  • Oh dear!! I was just going to ask if anyone knew how to register and open a credit card account on line but after reading all the posts don't think we will bother. Its OH's card but I look after the finances(don't all women?) He phoned the PO this morning to complain that when we were on holiday his card was refused!! Really embarrasing, and his account was clear. The guy he spoke to didn't seem to have a clue. Don't think we'll bother on our next holiday abroad.

I really don't recommend them. They're nothing but hassle. I've been trying to get them to tell me when my statement was sent/is being sent as I'm worried it'll get delayed in the bloody postal strikes but they seem unable to furnish me with this information. They just seem to be operating in a comlpetely different era. Hopeless.
  • I hava a Post Office Mastercard and, as I am currently unemployed, I did a CCCS budget report and wrote to my credit card providers offering the standard £1.00 a month.

The Post Office was the only bank to agree to the arrangement which is more than I can say for the other banks who, despite being aware of my situation, continue to harass me by phone.
