I am planning on getting a new laptop next week with my student loan. (i need a new one badly)
I am going to get a Dell, as that is what i have now, and i really like them, plus i'm getting a pink one
Anyway i want to one with a pretty good graphics card in it to play the sims 3. It plays on my laptop i have at the moment, but it's really slow and the graphics are quite bad sometimes, so i need to make sure its a good graphics card.
I know NOTHING about computers, but when i go to build my laptop on dell.com they ask me which graphics card i would prefer, but i don't know what one is the best for the sims.
Can anyone help me?

I think we need abit more info before anyone can help you... i.e. which laptop did you choose and in turn, which graphics cards did Dell then offer?0

It only gives you 2 options either the onboard card or the 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330. I think it would be worth paying the extra £45 for the ATI will be much better graphics and definately capable of sims 3 probably on high settings.
Go for the red! =]0 -

Hemophobic, has littlepinkstars44 mentioned which Dell laptop in another thread?
cause when I go to the Dell website and click on the details on a few of their laptops I get various graphics options. e.g.
Studio 15: Intel GMA 4500MHD or ATI Mobility RadeonHD 4570
Inspiron 17: Intel GMA 4500MHD or ATI Mobility RadeonHD 4330
Studio XPS 13: nVidia GeForce 9400M or nVidia GeForce 9500M0 -
Don't think so but those are the only ones that come in pink.0

I must admit I didn't check the colour options... especially the pink one!
@littlepinkstars44, I presume it's the inspiron 17.... then what hemophobic said, choose the dedicated ATI Mobibity RadeonHD 4330.
I tried two laptops for my gf, one with that Intel graphics and the other with the ATI 4330 option and in the end I chose the laptop with ATI 4330 graphics for her.
The Intel one looked like it would struggle if the gaming got anywhere intense. Add to the fact that if it is an 17 inch screen then the ATI 4330 graphics would cope better on the bigger screen...0 -
Head over to aldi, slap £499 in notes on the counter, and ask for the laptop below.
3 year warranty, and aldi are excellent for returns. Plus, despite not being a well known brand (medion), very well screwed together.
Intel Core 2 duo
4gb ram
320gb hd
Geforce Gt220m / 512mb
16" screen
8 cell battery
Only let down is the relatively small resolution, but at least most modern games should run at native res and high quality. Graphics card far better than an ATI 4330 or 9500.
Also comes with 32/64 vista with free upgrade to windows 7.
