I was just worried Princess that you might have been my estate agent - now i am being really paranoid. Oddly enough I have just requested a brochure for a property in Savills Glasgow office and within 10 minutes they were on the phone asking me for further info. Mentioned about the brochure thing and they said they follow up all requests for brochures. Mmmmm - they also knew my estate agent by her first name so me thinks that will be getting back to her oops!Smile though your bank is breaking:)0

spidystrider wrote: »54druids,can I ask where in Scotland you are? Savills is a very upmarket estate agent and must be expensive. Do you own a large country or very expensive property. Sorry if that sound nosey but just wondered what market you were aiming for. I was very lucky and managed to sell my property within 2 weeks. I can't say I was always happy with my ea in those 2 weeks but they got the job done. The property was advertised through rightmove as well as their own website. I think most people head to rightmove as a first stop when looking for property or at least I do.
No don't live in a country mansion but beginning to think I should. On the market for £365. Chose them as they sold the property 3 doors down and without sounding like a broken record, about 50% if not more of the properties on our estate have been bought by people from England. So I wanted an EA with great internet presence and the solicitors round here are not on the major search engines. Went with a company called Next Home who fulfilled that but were absolutley dreadful so signed up with Savills and have to admit they have been brilliant so far until this niggle.
Were you by any chance with Corum - I think they are a fab estate agent from a buyers point of view.
And i live in PerthshireSmile though your bank is breaking:)0 -
I went with Clyde. I'd never used them before and I did have a few problems in the 2 weeks my house was up for sale but in the end it didn't matter. I have heard that Perthshire is being taken over by English people  so maybe Savills was a good choice. I would expect far more contact from them than you are getting and if there aren't many people asking for the brochure, I see no reason why they can't follow up enquiries.Mortgage Free in 3-T2 : Started at £151,000 Nov. 2009 Mortgage Free Oct 1st 2015

Yes it is getting taken over by the English ...urmmm did I mention that I am English too!!!! Although I am a North Easterner married to a Glaswegian and my late father in law always said i was an adopted Scot. We have thought of Ayrshire to move to - any recommendations? Has to be not overlooked, near the countryside and in the catchment area of a decent secondary (I don't want much)Smile though your bank is breaking:)0

I honestly don't have a huge problem with English people
If I did, I'd be in big trouble on this site. Ayrshire is gorgeous and I don't think I'd ever move anywhere else. I'm in Prestwick and am getting ready to move to the beach and I'm really looking forward to it. You shouldn't have a problem finding somewhere in the Ayrshire countryside as long as you have a spare £500k  If you don't mind living far from a main town, you'll get one for less than £400k but anything cheaper is hard to find in my neck of the woods.

There is no way any EA can routinely follow up those who have requested Sales Details. It is so time consuming especially in my past due to the location where I traded as it was a place where everybody wanted to move to one day - when they retired.
HOWEVER (in big letters) if I were acting and the property was nice (sorry to use this word) and I know in your case it is very nice (fom the PMs we have exchanged) I would, as agent, do more than you are being offered. I would of asked someone in my office to call the last 10/12 parties who had requested the details.
So you try and call 12 and typically you will only get through half and even if you leave a message it is rare for anyone to get back. Then you get those where you speak to the wife who expresses disbelief that her husband has requested the details, those who admit they couldn't afford as they lived in a council house but liked getting details sent (at least they were honest), those who were looking in their five year plan just started last week, and so on. SDo if you were lucky you may unearth an odd party worth the effort but a lot of effort would of been needed to get to that point.
HOWEVER (again) I think you are entitled to make the suggestion to your agent that they should carry out the exercise for you as it has been suggested by another agent friend of yours from out of the area as it is what they would do. Whats up with them for goodness sake have they rolled over and given up on you?
Good luck but give them a wake up call.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.0 -
They got money in advance? What have they to work for?0

£5,000 plus which would make me work very very hard to get a result. The up front payment is of no consequence in the overall scale of things -- in comparison?A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. If Savills sold 3 doors down, and it's in the same price range as yours, same style, etc., then - have they contacted everyone who viewed the other one but didn't buy it? They may still be in the market, and the EAs should have their contact details still on file.....0
