Blackberry Bold - Insurance - New from eBay

Hey,

I've just received a Blackberry Bold which I won online at eBay for around £250. It's brand new, and the seller has sent me a despatch note from T Mobile.

I'm currently on Vodafone, and trying to get insurance on this phone but most companies require the proof of purchase to be in my name, which it isn't

Is there any way around this?

Thanks

  • Would they accept the receipt you got from eBay/paypal? As there are many shops on eBay so buying it new from eBay does mean it really is 'new' most of the time.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
  • Unfortunately not, most of them specify that they don't accept Auction/eBay receipts
  • So i would presume it was a private seller not a shop. If that's the case i have no idea. I dont know insurance companies to beable to recommend some more to try with the eBay receipt.

  • How weird is this, i'm about to do the exact same thing for the exact same phone!

I too would also like to know. I've looked on google but can't find anything.
This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.
  • hi i have a bank account 'with benefits' provided by lifestyle services group including phone insurance. i got an old bb 8800 from my brother which stopped working and when i made a claim they asked for him to write and sign a letter saying he gave me the phone with a proof that he originally owned it.

maybe worth trying lifestyle services group for insurance or asking the insurance company you tried whether the despatch note and a letter from original owner will suffice
